& Mary Logue
In November, we've got a special treat for Booze & Books as we welcome not one, but TWO fabulous, award-winning authors: Pete Hautman and Mary Logue who BOTH just happen to be releasing new middle-grade reads this fall.
In, Answers to Dog: A Moving Tale of Friendship, Rescue, and Self-Discovery, National Book Award winner Pete Hautman explores a friendship like no other—and the universal truth that dogs make life better, especially for underdogs. He is the author of many books for young adults, including the National Book Award winner Godless, the Klaatu Diskos trilogy, and Eden West. His middle-grade novels include The Rat Queen, Otherwood, winner of an Edgar Award, and Slider, which Booklist lauded for its “crystalline prose, delectable detail, rip-roaring humor, and larger-than-life characters.”
Mary's new book, Dreki: My Icelandic Dragon, is about boy, his grandfather, and a baby dragon who set off on an international adventure that takes them from the Midwest to Iceland in this children's fantasy novel perfect for fans of When You Trap a Tiger and How to Train Your Dragon. Mary Logue is a New York Times bestselling author of over thirty books, including adult mysteries, poetry, non-fiction, and many books for children. Her picture book, Sleep Like a Tiger, won a Caldecott Honor and a Charlotte Zolotow Honor.
Pete and Mary have a long-term partnership, and spend their time in Golden Valley, Minnesota and Stockholm, Wisconsin, writing on both sides of the river.
