When ARE you opeN?

We are open and ready to serve you 11am - 10pm Thursday - Saturday, kitchen closes at 9pm, and 11am - 9pm Wednesday and Sunday, kitchen closes at 8:30pm.

What kind of food Do you serve?

American Regional. We serve a variety of approachable and affordable fares. We try to keep our business local reducing stress on the supply chain, eliminating distribution issues, and supporting other small business like ourselves.

Do you take reservations?

Yes, we do. However, they are not required. Just call 715-808-0560 to request a time or use the “Request A Reservation” button at the bottom of any page of our website.

Can You Accomodate Large groups?

We have additional seating that we use for overflow dining on weekends that is available for large groups when not in use. It seats up to 32 people. If you are interested in learning more please call 715-808-0560 or email us. If you do email, include your phone number and please add contact@blackroosterbistro.com to your preferred sender list to avoid our response going to your junk folder.

How can I find you?

We are located in the lower level of the Historic Opera House on 2nd Street in downtown Hudson. 2nd street is the main drag downtown. There is a front door under a black awning on Main Street and there is also a back door under the green Opera House awning in the alley east of 2nd St that connects Walnut St and Locust St with additional parking in that same alley. Either way brings you into the building and you can head down the stairs from there.

What should I expect for parking?

There are a lot of parking options in downtown Hudson. Some are free if you feel like walking a block or two and some are metered. The Passport Parking App is really slick and parking is only 50 cents per hour. If it’s after 8 pm parking is not monitored and on Sundays parking is FREE!

Are you handicap accessible?

Unfortunately not. We are in a basement space in a historical building in downtown Hudson.

What’s the atmosphere like?

We strive to be the place you can go to every day not just on special occasions. Come as you are. We have a casual, comfortable atmosphere where you’ll fit in no matter what you’re wearing.

Do you have outdoor seating?

Nope, we don't even have a window so please tell us about the weather when you come in and don’t let that keep you away - we stay warm down here in the winter and cool down here in the summer. I know we midwesterners all love to dine al fresco in the warmer months so we will have multiple take-out options for you in the summer so you can enjoy our food at a picnic table in the park only a half a block away.

Do you have A KIDS MENU?

We do have a few options for kids available, just ask your server!

Do you have A Brunch Menu?

We run breakfast items as specials on Saturdays and Sundays till 2pm. Our breakfast burger and Croque Madame are great brunch items that are always on our lunch menu. Lunch menu is available 11am-3pm. We serve our full menu all day as well.

Is there a tv at the restaurant?

Nope, we prefer to be a little more old-fashioned and encourage our guests to interact with us and each other while dining here and we didn’t want to cover up any of the beautiful historic space we occupy.

Do you offer a Cash Discount?

To keep things simple our pricing already reflects the cash discount. When using any other method of payment 3.95% will be added onto your check. This is simply the cost of running your card to process payment into our account. Ridiculous but true. So please, pay in cash. Please tip in cash as well. We cannot access the fee it costs to process the additional amount you tip your server on your card so we pay that percentage out of our pocket. Some establishments take that additional amount out of the tip you leave for your server but we KNOW that is not your intention when tipping your server so at our restaurant they keep 100% of your tip.

Do you sell gift cards?

Yes, we have gift cards on-site for purchase as well as digital gift cards. Digital gift cards can be purchased over the phone, call 715-808-0560 and will arrive via your choice of text message or email.

Are you able accommodate for allergies and dietary restrictions?

We carry gluten free buns and fresh frozen gluten free pasta and are able to accommodate most other requests and requirements. If your restrictions are severe please give us as much advance notice as possible so our team can plan and prepare. Our chef is actually brilliant with flavor and can cook vegetarian and vegan dishes but it does require extra planning and preparation so please call ahead or make a note on your reservation to help us best accommodate your needs.

do you serve German food?

While we are in the same space as the Winzer Stube German Restaurant we are a whole new concept. We were able to maintain some of the staff from the previous restaurant so you can expect to find our version of a Schnitzel sandwich, mushroom soup, and apple strudel.

Will you honor Winzer Stube gift cards?

We did for the first two years after the Winzer Stube closed but we are not longer honoring them.
